I believe that university education should not be free. The Government spends a lot of money on higher education, but it will never be enough. University students need to contribute to the cost of their education. Here are the reasons why I think so.

To begin with, most people do not appreciate something when they get it for nothing. If students have to pay for their education, they value it and become serious students. They will attend lectures regularly and take less time to complete their courses.

Secondly, university students can use a generous student loan called the Higher Education Contribution Scheme (HECS). When they graduate, they can earn excellent incomes from their professions as lawyers and doctors, so they can pay back the loan.

To sum up, people should pay for their university fee as they can borrow the money and they will need to be responsible for their own education. Hardworking taxpayers should not have to fund university students who will find rewarding and well-paid jobs.
