Problems with Junk Food

These days there are many people who eat lots of junk food. No doubt eating lots of junk food is unhealthy. There are several reasons for this.

First of all, eating lots of junk food can become addictive. This means it can be difficult to give up. Some people only want to eat junk food because they are used to the taste of it. They waste a lot of time and money on junk food. People who eat a lot of junk food might never learn to cook for themselves and become very lazy. Maybe this laziness will affect their lives.

Another reason is that eating too much junk food can be harmful to your health. It can cause you to become overweight as it is very high in fat and sugar. Being overweight increases your risk of many diseases, including heart disease and diabetes. Junk food can also be high in salt which increases your chance of hypertension (high blood pressure). 63% of Australians are overweight, and scientific research has shown that cooking and eating food at home decreases your chance of being overweight.

Finally, eating junk food often means that a person isn’t spending time at home with their family or friends. They may be going out all the time, possibly on their own. So eating junk food means that a person might be more lonely and isolated. It might be better to stay at home with your family or flatmates and prepare food to eat together.

In conclusion, eating junk food is not good for you. It can cause terrible health problems and reduce social connections. The government should encourage citizens to cook healthy meals and eat at home.
